On the past few episodes you guys have discussed: Does anyone else find it a bit odd that "Blizzard Conditions" took place in the winter, then "Deja Who?" took place in what looks like spring, and then "An Even Steven Holiday Special" took place in winter? For a show with very consistent continuity, you'd think two episodes about winter would take place back to back instead of having a spring episode between them. Was it a whole years' break between "Blizzard Conditions" and "An Even Steven Holiday Special" or did the episodes just air out of order? That seems a bit odd to me. Other episodes keep this straight, but not these few episodes. Thoughts, Patricia, Casey and Ashli?

I've been meaning to join this forum for a while now and finally got around to it. I hope you all will welcome me. I comment regularly on the YouTube channel as well. The admins of this forum will recognize me right away even without the avatar. Anyway, to respond to this, yeah, this was something that bugs me a bit in the first season as well. And what you've mentioned isn't the only example we have either. I'm kinda using logic to put this together, but I recall in Kiss and Make up (episode 10) Carl and Hoodsie were at risk of having to attend Summer school and at the same time we have the pool party plot going on which makes me think that this episode takes place near the end of the school year. But then in episode 13 (I spy a Witch), we are clearly in the Fall still. Fortunately the timeline gets better later in the series.

Still, we got an episode that seemed to take place during late spring and it preceded one that took place on Halloween.

Why aren't you guys posting the links to the episodes here anymore? I hope you're still reading our comments.
Anyway, on Summer of Camp Caprice... Casey, Ashli, if you liked this TV movie, you're going to LOVE Far From Home, Butterflies Are Free and The Wedding Frame. Trust Patricia, they are FANTASTIC, especially Butterflies Are Free. I can't believe Patricia you hated this episode, Patricia (by the way, you never actually said "yay" "nay" or "meh," but from the way you sounded giving your final thoughts, I'm going to assume you would've given it a "nay.")
Also, Patricia, have you noticed all 4 of the As Told By Ginger TV movies seem to take place in a different season? I mean think about it--Summer of Camp Caprice took place in the summer, obviously, Far From Home took place in the winter, Butterflies Are Free took place at the end of spring, and the Wedding Frame took place at the end of fall. I can't wait to hear what Casey and Ashli think about those 3 movies. I bet they're gonna love them and I predict at least one "super yay" from Casey. (By the way, you should also add a "super nay" to contrast that, I've got a feeling you might give one to one of the later episodes like "Dodie's Big Break.")
Well, that's all I have to say. I'm in between!

Just listened to the Season 1 Recap:
I think the show lyrics are very telling - Ginger, our heroine is slowly discovering how "green" her grass already is. Courtney and Blake have also heard the "rumor" about possible "greener grass" (just how is it the Foutleys are SO happy when they don't have the finer things we do?).
Isn't it interesting how Courtney will occasionally do something to show how she can be "down to earth", while Blake makes desperate attempts at ingratiating himself with Carl...

I really love how the characters grow in Season 2. I think some of the best magic of the series is that, when you take it all in, it's essentially the story of characters becoming themselves, figuring out who they are. It moves beyond standard "coming of age" material and digs deeper to show rather than tell, and, with few exceptions, breathes new life into old tropes. The series begs for a "reunion show," to see what happened to everyone ten years later, I feel. But that's just me!

On the season 1 recap:
Without spoiling anything for Casey and Ashli, I'm going to give a few hints on what to expect for season 2:
1. Patricia kind of gave this already as a hint, but Lois may have something in her personal life change, and this will progress over the rest of the series. I'm not going to say anything more here because Casey or Ashli might end up guessing what actually happens. 2. Something is going to change about the Carl and Hoodsey plots (though it mostly comes into play in season 3). Let's just say one of the background characters at Lucky Elementary is "moving" and "has a special power." 3. There will be more callbacks to past episodes. Keep looking out for those continuity nods, there will be plenty more of them. 4. The episode "Losing Nana Bishop" that you guys discussed in that one episode of the Friday Night Nicktoons podcast will be in season 2, so you can look out for that. 5. Let's also just say that Nana Bishop won't be the only person in the series who suddenly passes away.
That's all I'm going to say about season 2. Keep watching the show to find out more!

Oh, and one more thing!
6. Let's also say that one of Casey or Ashli's predictions may have been correct!

Here's an idea you guys should do after you've seen the entire show in order:
Rewatch "Ginger the Juvey" (the first episode) and then rewatch "The Wedding Frame" (the last episode) and compare and contrast how the show evolved between those two episodes. When rewatching some of the earliest episodes, like Carl and Maude, I can say the show is SOOOOO different from the beginning of the series than it is at the end. I won't spoil anything for Casey and Ashli, but wow, so much has changed between the first and last episode. Many of the characters don't even act the way they did in "Ginger the Juvey" in "The Wedding Frame." You guys will see what I mean when you get there. I know Patricia knows.

Hey guys. We're so sorry we haven't been updating the forums with the newest episodes posted. We have been so super busy with everything. But don't worry, we'll hopefully do better. Our newest episode of We're in Between is up with Ashli and myself discussing about the As Told by Ginger "Gym Class Confidential" with special guest Eryk Casemiro who wrote the episode and claims it as his personal favorite. Enjoy!

I totally forgot to comment on this, but I think you three should discuss this much later in the series--the plots of "An Even Steven Holiday Special" and also "Ten Chairs" are both extremely similar to the respective Christmas/Hanukkah and Thanksgiving episodes of Pepper Ann, "A Kosher Christmas" and "Thanksgiving Dad." Some of the element are even in lockstep, such as both Ginger and Pepper Ann afraid of favoring one heritage over another, and both inviting their divorced fathers to Thanksgiving dinner, setting themselves up for disappointment and others for discomfort. The similarities are fairly striking, and the fact that it happened twice is definitely worth noting--especially since ATBG is a Nickelodeon product while Pepper Ann was a Disney one.
Since you've already done the Christmas/Hanukkah special, perhaps this is something that can be delved into when you eventually get to "Ten Chairs" in another 34 episodes.
