Hey everyone, we here at We're in Between have exciting news! We will be interviewing a very special guest on Saturday, March 18th and release it as a bonus podcast on Saturday, May 6th. Our special guest is... Aspen Vincent, the voice of Dodie Bishop, one of the main three female protagonists of the series. She's also known for being the voice of Amanda Payne on the well known 2001 canceled Nickelodeon pilot Constant Payne, voiced a few characters in Everquest II, and performed on stage with Meat Loaf. If you have a question for her, post it here and if it sticks out to us, we'll read it on the podcast. We're beyond excited. Thanks as always and we're in between!

What is it like to play a character who gets almost nothing but hatred from the fanbase, and what do you see Dodie as in general?

Hello, Aspen! I follow you on Twitter and Instagram (I'm "snorbertd," on Instagram you may recognize me, I have commented on some of your photos and you've replied). As Told By Ginger is a great cartoon and I'm sure Constant Payne would've been too! It's so sad the latter never became a show, the pilot was phenomenal and it's actually in my top 10 favorite pieces of animation of all time!
I have a few questions: Are you aware of Constant Payne's cult following? About a month ago, I tweeted you mentioning about Constant Payne and you replied "Goodness! How do you know about Constant Payne?" Well, yes, Constant Payne has a cult following! One upload of the pilot on YouTube has over a million views! Patricia even discussed the pilot on a miniseries she did called "Nicksmissal" along with other cancelled or rejected Nickelodeon projects such as The Modifyers, The Patakis, Disney's Doug and more. Even though it's highly unlikely to happen, if Nickelodeon ever greenlit Constant Payne right now and called you up asking if you'd like to reprise your role as Amanda, would you do it? I know you've said you don't do voiceovers in animation anymore, but would you do make an exception for this instance? And do you know if David Keith and Fred Tatasciore would reprise their roles as Doc Payne and Uncle Watton respectively if that happened? Since you've done stuff both on stage and for voiceover, what is the difference between the two? Do you think voice acting is underappreciated compared to stage acting? Which do you like doing more? What was the best part about being a voice actor on As Told By Ginger? Are you recognized out in the real world for voicing Dodie? Has anyone ever stopped you on the street and said "Hey, you kinda sound like Dodie from As Told By Ginger!" You didn't do too many voices in animation and you're not as recognizeable of a voice actor compared to Billy West, Tara Strong or Rob Paulsen, but has that ever happened to you?

“I KNEW it!” (I always loved the way Dodie said that…) In “About Face” due to her father’s intervention, Dodie experiences a bit of character growth and even confronts her mother! However, they way she refers to and speaks to Chet Zipper, she’s still has a bit of her mother’s control issues.
Imagine: Do you think there’s any hope for HER daughter? Do you think Dodie ever dressed her daughter like a tiny “pep squad” member? Do you think Dodie was ever genuinely happy for Ginger’s good fortune and success? Do you think she introduces herself as: “Mrs. Zipper” “Deirdre Zipper” “Deirdre Hortense Bishop-Zipper”?
One more thing (if there’s time and interest): Do you recall the lyrics from the “Pony Girls” song used in the pilot (Dodie and Macie are trying to sing it at their slumber party without Ginger)? I haven’t found a complete lyric anywhere!

Aspen,
Out of all the horrible things Dodie has done to Ginger, which was the worst, in your opinion?
Why do you think Ginger was so forgiving for everything Dodie did to her throughout the series?
Did you have a "Dodie" in your life growing up? What similarities did they share with Dodie?
Improv situation: Ginger has finally decided to stop putting up with Dodie's garbage and puts her foot down, telling Dodie that she's a horrible friend and is always getting Ginger into trouble somehow, and how she prioritizes popularity over true friendship and is willing to dump Ginger and Macie ASAP when an opportunity for recognition opens up (like in "Dodie's Big Break"). In Dodie's voice and from her perspective, remind Ginger about your long-standing friendship and why you two should remain friends and why you should be forgiven.
These questions are for both Aspen and Jackie. Since I don't know whether they're both being interviewed at the same time or not, I'll put them in both threads...
After the episode "Wicked Game", in which Dodie and Macie join a conspiracy led by Miranda and Mipsy to break up Ginger and Darren so that Ginger will spend more time with them, no resolution was shown. The next episode, "The Easter Ham" (where Dodie wants Ginger to cancel Darren's birthday party because her mother won't let her attend) shows everything back to normal with the trio still friends acting as if nothing ever happened, save for a couple of indirect comments about what happened in "Wicked Game". Do you feel there was supposed to be a story arc in between of Ginger struggling to forgive Dodie and Macie? Why do you think Ginger forgave them so fast for something so terrible, especially after Dodie went back to her usual selfish ways in that very same episode?

^ Oh forgot a couple of other questions for both Aspen and Jackie...
How did you react to the fake news that ATBG was getting revived, if you had heard about it at all?
What other Nickelodeon shows, if any, did you work on? What was your favorite Nick show besides ATBG to watch?
